April and May have been a time emergence and growth in the vines.
We have seen the hard winter buds change to the cottony soft “Wool Stage”, followed by bud break. 
After bud burst the first leaves emerge. Soon the initial tiny grape blossoms become visible. 
Meanwhile, as each shoot lengthens while sending out thin tendrils groping for a wire for support.
The work in the fields must be done with a delicate touch. The shoots are fragile. If a plant has too many shoots we individually remove the extras. Now the energy of the plant can go into the chosen few with the end result, better quality fruit. After thinning the shoots the support wires are secured around the foliage to prevent damage to the vines.
Now at the end of May, each shoot is filling out with lush vegetation
and we are seeing the first signs of flowering.
It is a joy to see the sea of vines in order and flourishing.
