Easter celebrates the resurrection, as spring celebrates new growth.

Year after year the vines burst with life. The first leaves are showing. The cherry and apple trees have followed the apricot with blooms.

A fruit tree with delicate pink and white blossoms covering its branches, representing the renewal of spring growth.

Over Easter weekend I was going through some family genealogy records. On my mother’s side, they were winemakers in Europe before coming to America in the mid 1800s. My father’s side can be traced back to Normandy, France. They immigrated to the USA during the late 1600s. With great effort and strength of character they began new lives in a different country, tremendous change, along with great trials.

In 2005 we came to Saint Emilion. Many people have asked us “Why leave your country?” I answer “Why not begin again and pursue wine making in France where it all began.” We are never too old to begin again and learn. A close-up of a grapevine cane showing the first tender green leaves emerging, demonstrating the vine's spring awakening.

Just as the vines weather through storms and drought, they adapt and grow. Each spring they begin again and bear fruit. What a privilege to live and flourish as nature does. There is no limit to new beginnings.
