Our lavender is full of life and bursting with color.
The lavender flower bed at the base of the office stone stairs smells lovely. 
The tiny green European tree frogs rest in two umbrella pines, as the butterflies and bees are busy with in the flowers. 
My favorite visitor is the large humming-bird hawk-moth (also called a moro-sphinx) which works without resting drinking nectar from our lavender flowers. It is considered a good omen in France and Italy. I caught it on camera in the first photo with the yellow swallowtail butterfly. Below is a vivid yellow butterfly commonly called ‘clouded sulphur’.
This orange butterfly is called the 'painted lady'. The painted lady is probably the most widespread butterfly in the world. 
The lavenders (Lavandula) are a genus of flowering plants in the mint family, Lamiaceae, native to the Mediterranean region. The color lavender is pale tint of violet. Lavender in French is 'lavande'.
Our lavender and all the life in it is one of the many joys of living here.
